Indian Spacetech Playbook: What startups should build

We’re in Space 2.0. Version 1.0 was sponsored & supported by the Government. Version 2.0 has been supported by the venture capital & private investments, assisted by the Government. This iteration is focussed on commercialisation & on revenues – as any other business category.

Private capital is investing heavily, 78% of global turnover already comes from commercial revenue. The cost to launch a satellite has collapsed by ~99.7%. Now startups in Coimbatore can access space instead of it being restricted to just Cape Canaveral. Positioning, Navigation & Timing enables 10% of European GDP (USD 1.4 Trillion) – such is the scale of impact. The demand for satellite services is such that the ecosystem has seen a 19x increase in the number of objects in space in just 9 years, transforming space into a commercially viable layer of infrastructure.

The rules of who can reach orbit, who can build on it, and who can profit from it have been rewritten entirely.

And India is writing its own chapter.

If you’re a founder curious about the Indian Spacetech ecosystem, here’s a playbook.
