Building for Bharat: Discussion Notes

The Building for Bharat roundtable series, conceptualized under the Bharat Inclusion Initiative, was designed to refine sectoral and investment theses for inclusive fintech opportunities in Bharat – India’s vast underserved base that includes nano-preneurs, informal workers, gig workers, and unskilled or semi-skilled migrants. These consultative roundtables brought together fintech founders, investors, financial institutions, and ecosystem enablers to surface emerging solutions, identify whitespaces and plot the course for scalable, purpose driven entrepreneurial interventions.

The discussions centered on three critical pillars of financial inclusion:
1. Unlocking Productive Credit: Enabling accessible, affordable credit solutions for micro and small enterprises.
2. Powering Savings: Expanding participation in formal savings and investment instruments.
3. Insuring Bharat: Addressing trust, accessibility, and adoption barriers in insurance.

Each roundtable sought to understand key challenges, highlight green shoots, and define actionable pathways to drive innovation, regulatory support, and ecosystem-level collaboration. This report captures insights from these roundtables.
